The literacy course can be facilitated in different ways, depending on age and topic.

The use of poetry and rhyme works well in the lower years, along with developing a musical score to accompany a story.

Word games are also both useful and fun, and we often take rhythms from words or phrases to develop a piece.
In the higher levels, song writing is used to develop literacy skills which will incorporate literary rules such as kennings.
Music technology, drum kits, guitars and keyboards are used to develop the backing track, and help to shape the style and content of the music and lyrics.

This course is available for small groups and a CD of each pupil's work is available at the end of these sessions.

We can also provide OCN Accredited Courses in Music & Literacy.
